The Art of Brow Henna

Elleebana Brow Henna is not only a product made from natural ingredients - it is also a product that does not require the use of oxidants to penetrate the hair bark and introduce pigment, which means no hydrogen peroxide or ammonia is needed. One of the unique features of Elleeban's henna, confirming the unique character of the product, is the use of ingredients that strengthen the effects. Indian gooseberry extract, contained in our henna powder, contains essential fatty acids that strengthen the hair follicles, while giving the hair smoothness, shine and beautiful appearance. This extract also contains vitamin C, which can stop the process of premature graying. Indian gooseberry extract perfectly conditions the hair, at the same time reducing problems with skin flaking, thus counteracting the natural effect of henna drying out the skin.

Shikakai extract (obtained from Acacia Concinna tropical tree nuts) gives the eyebrows additional shine and softness, while facilitating the process of coating the hair follicles. 

Since the use of brow henna requires the addition of a liquid to obtain an applicable paste, Elleebana allows the use of distilled water at this stage (which is still an absolutely appropriate solution), but it also allows the use of Aqua PH Activator to offer additional benefits to the customer's eyebrows at this stage of the process. The use of distilled water in combination with henna can lead to a change in the pH of the paste; as henna performs best at a pH slightly different from that of the water, it was decided to produce a fluid that would not only have the optimum pH for henna, but would also contain hydrolysed wheat proteins known for their moisturizing properties, their ability to maintain the correct level of hydration and to form a protective layer. D Panthenol, which is also found in Aqua PH Activator, is responsible for increasing the level of moisture and stimulates the penetration of moisture into deeper layers of hair. Vitamin E supports the health of the skin, and aloe vera extract takes care of its proper nutrition. This fluid also allows to maintain the colouring effect for longer and reduces the risk of hypersensitivity symptoms.

Another key factor during product development was the production of colours. We wanted to achieve a wider colour spectrum. Elleebana Brow Henna offers lighter colours for those customers who do not want any skin colouring, but still want to achieve an eyebrow colouring effect without using traditional paints. These lighter colours very often give only a minimal colour change to the skin, but offer a colouring effect to the eyebrow hair that lasts for weeks. For women who expect a stronger skin tone than that achieved with lighter colours, it may be appropriate to mix colours - by adding a certain amount of darker colour to the mix, it is possible to achieve a stronger skin tone or an ashy shade of eyebrow hair.

Speaking of mixing, you'll notice that each henna pack contains unique measuring cups - another ingenious little design that was developed in response to our feedback. The larger measure is ideal for measuring one type of mix. The use of a flat, larger measure of powder in combination with eight drops of activating fluid or a corresponding amount of distilled water provides the optimal proportions of product ingredients. A smaller measuring cup (or fields of cup) is the right amount for colour mixing. You can use one small measure of colour in combination with one small measure of a second colour to achieve a standard ratio of 50: 50 before you start adding the liquid. Obtaining the right ratio of Henna to liquid will allow you to achieve long-lasting results, so accuracy is also very important in this case.

Skin colouring is subject to certain anomalies - it's like a self-tanner spray; the colour on the face usually fades faster than other parts of the body. This may be due to increased production of sebum in this area of the body, or it may be due to age-related issues. Many eyebrow tattoo or permanent make-up stylists say that even with such treatments, the colour can sometimes "go off" in the skin, and the duration of the pigment retention time varies from client to client. Henna, for all the brands on the market, is designed to also offer a colour under the hairs of the eyebrows, but the duration of this colour, or even its absence, is an individual matter. Some customers will see a clear colour under the hair, which lasts for a week, although fading every day, often for as long as another 14 days, when for other customers the colour effect does not last longer than a day or two. This is the nature of skin-tinting products, which is why the colouring factor for eyebrow hairs is so important when applying Henna. Basically, the use of the darker colours of Elleeban's henna gives a stronger colouring effect on the skin, in the case of those customers who expect this effect. The colouring effect of the eyebrows themselves lasts for up to 6 weeks; with each subsequent application, the colour additionally covers the hairs, depositing more pigment, with each such layer the eyelashes appear thicker, while the additional ingredients of the product nourish and strengthen the eyebrows, allowing to maintain their health and beautiful appearance.
